Downtown Design Guidelines

For downtown revitalization to be successful, it must be coordinated and guided by rules which reflect community standards and desires. The Kitimat Downtown Design Guidelines help merchants, landowners, tenants, architects and designers to appreciate the "big picture" of the overall vision for downtown Kitimat.

The Downtown Design Guidelines offer ideas for improvements large and small which should be reflected for business premises, public buildings, and public outdoor spaces in the downtown revitalization area [PDF - 332 KB]. It is important to note that before any upgrading or façade changes commence, permits from the District of Kitimat - such as Building Permits, Sign Permits and Development Permits - will be required.
