Invest in Kitimat

Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada is one of North America's most competitive coastal locations for business.  The community has a population of 8,131 (2016 Census) and is located on BC's north coast at the head of Douglas Channel.  This area in the Kitimat Valley contains tracts of flat industrial land on or near tidewater, a unique and valuable feature in this mountainous part of the province.  Heavy industry has existed in Kitimat for over 60 years with private ports shipping goods to and from global markets year round.

Kitimat is a strong competitor for global trade.  Over the past decade investments valued at over $30 billion have been attracted to this location.  These multi-million and multi-billion dollar projects include modernization of an aluminum smelter (completed in 2015) and proposed LNG export facilities.  Substantial port facility development is expected in the coming years.

The District of Kitimat works confidentially on a regular basis with investors on early-planning stage projects.  Our position is to support investment while helping maintain our community as a marvel of nature and industry.
