Reporting to the Director of Community Planning & Development, the Planning Assistant will complete basic planning assignments and provide research and administrative assistance on larger projects. The successful candidate will have two years post-secondary education in planning, geography or a related field.
This bargaining unit position has a current wage scale ranging from $25.79 to $29.43/hr (over 2 years) plus a full benefits package. A Housing Supplement will be offered for the first six months of employment.

KITIMAT FIRE & RESCUE SERVICES – AFTERNOON/WEEKEND STAND-BY STUDENT
Kitimat Fire and Rescue services is looking for student applicants for afternoon/weekend stand-by duties. The position will require the student to assist regular members in performing watch room duties during emergency calls occurring afternoons Monday – Friday between 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm and weekends Saturday & Sunday between 8:00 am – 1:00 pm & 1:30 pm – 6:30 pm. Students are paid minimum wage. This program is to give students insight into fire department operations, and provide mentoring for possible future employment for students going into the fire/rescue field.

The position will require the volunteer to assist regular members in performing watch room duties during emergency calls occurring on the night shift, between 6:30 pm - 8:00 am. A stipend will be provided for the position. The intent of the volunteer live-in program is to give students insight into fire department operations, and provide mentoring for possible future employment in the fire/rescue field.

The Kitimat RCMP has vacancies for independent individuals able to manage flexible work hours to fill the position of RCMP Guard at the detachment. This position is casual, on-call, as needed, anytime during the day or night including weekends for 8 hour shifts. The rate of pay is $19.23 per hour.
The Guard position primarily involves maintaining the safety, security and dignity of the prisoners in the care of the RCMP.
