ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST II - RE-ADVERTISEMENT
The District of Kitimat is seeking an Engineering Technologist II with the following qualifications:
- civil engineering technologist diploma (required)
- at least 3 years acceptable experience in the civil/municipal discipline
- eligibility for registration as a Civil Engineering Technologist with ASTT BC
This position is within the collective bargaining unit with a 35 hour work week and a current wage range of $37.94 - $45.90 over 2 years.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, duties include a variety of infrastructure investigations, surveying, design, contract preparation, inspection and material testing on projects related to the municipality’s water, sewer, drainage and transportation systems. Candidates should be proficient in using electronic survey equipment, computer assisted design using AutoCad 3D, and MS Office. A valid BC driver’s license is required.

DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF - Operations and Training
This position will be of interest to an experienced fire department officer who enjoys a variety of technical and operational challenges as well as service to the public. Reporting directly to the Fire Chief, you will be responsible for a broad range of management duties for a 20 person department providing fire and ambulance service.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years experience in a successful command level position; experience working with career firefighters; a full working knowledge of Incident Command system; excellent communication and organizational skills; leadership ability; demonstrated labour relations aptitude in a unionized setting; and a diploma in business Administration (or equivalent) with a sound background in physics, chemistry, hydraulics, administration, accounting and computers. The position requires you to have a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and to reside within the District of Kitimat.
The following courses/experience would also be an asset:
- Fire Officer Level II
- Fire Investigation Level II
- Fire Inspector Level II
- Fire Services Instructor Level II
- PCP or equivalent level for the delivery of Emergency Medical Services is strongly desired
- a full working knowledge of an Ambulance Service in relation to operations and administration
Salary is above average for this position for a department of comparable size and includes an excellent benefit package.
