Leisure Services Master Plan

Why are we doing a LSMP Update?

Kitimat’s Leisure Services Master Plan (LSMP) is now 15 years old and most action items recommended in the Plan have been completed. DOK is undertaking a LSMP Update to review the Plan and establish strategic direction for the Leisure Services Department to 2030. The LSMP update will prepare a long-term vision for parks, trails and recreation; and identify potential future projects and programs to improve the level of leisure services for residents, visitors and tourists.

Where are we in the process?

The project team has completed some preliminary work preparing inventories that can be used as baseline information. We have captured where we are now.

What’s next?

  • Community Survey
The survey closed on October 4, 2017 and a survey summary will be made available once data is compiled. The intent of the survey was to let us know what you do in parks and recreation, how satisfied you are, and your priorities for the future.
  • Passport to Kitimat
To help kick-off the Leisure Services Master Plan Update, the District held a photo contest which began on September 1 and closed on October 4, 2017.
  • Focus Group Discussions
Focus group discussions will be taking place on October 23, 2017 at 5:30 - 6:45 pm for indoor recreation and from 7:00 - 8:15 pm for outdoor recreation. To register, please e-mail lsmp@kitimat.ca or call 250-632-8910.
