The Mayor & Council of the District of Kitimat deeply regret West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd has announced permanent closure of Eurocan Mills.  We acknowledge the hardships this will bring to many individuals and families.  We want to assure the people of Kitimat and the Northwest region that we will help, as best we can, to alleviate this difficult situation.  Read more...

 

Grant Writing Assistance Program

The District of Kitimat forged a new partnership in July 2010 to help secure grant funding for a wide range of community projects and programs.  The Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDI) provided the municipality with financial assistance to fund a grant writer position.  Mr. Fred Wilson is now available to help local non-profit groups and the District of Kitimat (1) identify potential sources of funding for projects and programs, (2) complete funding applications and (3) monitor applications through to completion.  Read more...
