Giant Spruce

The Giant Spruce was registered in 1983 as the largest living Spruce tree in British Columbia. At over 500 years old, it is the oldest living organism in the Kitimat Valley; some consider it one of the oldest spruce trees in the world. The Giant Spruce is located in Radley Park. Nearby amenities include a trail, picnic benches, and interpretive signs.

Having trouble finding the Giant Spruce?

Park your vehicle at Riverlodge Recreation Centre, and walk west along Columbia Street towards the dyke. Turn right on the gravel road. Keep to the left hand side facing any traffic. Take the first left, and walk down a small hill until you come to a cleared area on the left hand side. Walk through the clearing and the parking area. Look out for an overhead sign which marks the trail to the Giant Sitka Spruce.
