Do You Know an Exceptional Kitimat Citizen? Nominate by May 1st.

Each year Mayor and Council acknowledge those who have been honored at the provincial, national, or international levels, and those who distinguish themselves as citizens within our community. Awards are for achievements made between May 1 and April 30 of the following year and are presented by the Mayor at the July 1st Stage Show at Riverlodge as part of the Canada Day celebrations.

Arts and Athletics:
Individuals or groups within our community (including coaches, trainers, managers, and presidents) who have been selected as members of BC or Canadian teams and have attained positions of bronze, silver, or gold at provincial or higher competitions (including: BC Summer/Winter Games, BC Drama Festival, BC Festival of the Arts, Canadian Olympic Teams).

Distinguished Citizen: Individuals or groups who have distinguished themselves as citizens within our community. Nomination form should indicate the reason for the nomination and be signed by five citizens of the community. Individual plaques will be valued at the gold level, group plaques will be valued at the bronze level.  Nominations submitted will be forwarded to Council for approval. To ensure recognition is available to as many Kitimat citizens as possible, recognition to any one person or group in this category is limited to once every five years.

It is the responsibility of the public to submit nominations. Nomination forms are available during the spring.
