The newly renovated Northwest Regional Airport (YXT) is the closet airport to Kitimat, located 48 kilometers north along Highway 37. Travel by car requires approximately 40 minutes, depending on weather and road conditions.

Three airlines currently service the Northwest Regional Airport: Air Canada Jazz, Hawkair and Central Mountain Air. Trip destinations include: Smithers, Kelowna, Vancouver, Victoria, Prince George, and Prince Rupert. Charter service is also available - please check with the airlines for more details.

Visitors looking for ground transportation can take the Farwest Bus Lines airport limousine to Kitimat; Regional Transit service, or rent a vehicle through one of three local agencies: National Car Rental, Hertz Car Rental, and Budget Car Rental.
