Household Cardboard Recycling Begins Sept. 1

As of September 1, 2014, weekly municipal garbage collection contractors and municipal landfill will no longer accept recyclable cardboard or boxboard (e.g. boxes from fruit snacks, granola bars or cereal).

Residents must take their cardboard to either the KUTE Recycling Centre at 314 Railway Ave. or to the Multi-Material BC/Kitimat Bottle Depot at 428 Enterprise Ave.

Please note: Wet, soiled or oiled cardboard and boxboard is contaminated and not recyclable. Put it in your garbage or take it to the landfill.

Non-compliance, after a warning, may result in a $75 fine.

See the MMBC and KUTE Recycling Table for more information.
