Ammonia Leak Drill

November 27, 2018 – To ensure public and worker safety, the District of Kitimat and the Fire Department will be conducting an ammonia leak drill  at the Tamitik Jubilee Sports Complex on Wednesday, November 28th, between 10 am and noon.

The District of Kitimat and other emergency response agencies will be treating this drill as an actual leak event. Response personnel will be wearing hazmat suits and simulated evacuation of the arenas and the pool will take place.

Tamitik Arena Re-Opened

November 20, 2018 – The mechanical issue at Tamitik Arena has been resolved and the arena is open for all skating activities and walking programs.

We would like to thank the public for their patience while the arena was closed.

Love Kitimat Trade Show

Come on down to the Love Kitimat trade show at City Centre Mall this Friday night, November 23rd, to check out Kitimat's small, independent businesses and enjoy some good food, live music, and more. Bring the kids; we'll have face painting, cotton candy, and the bouncy castle.

The Love Kitimat program is part of the Love Northern BC initiative to support small, independent businesses in northern BC.

Tamitik Arena Closed for Repairs - Update

November 19, 2018 – Please be advised that due to a mechanical issue, the Tamitik Arena will remain closed until further notice. 

The District of Kitimat is currently assessing the issue; updates will be provided by 12pm tomorrow.

Tamitik Arena Closed for Repairs

November 17, 2018 – Please be advised that due to a mechanical issue, the Tamitik Arena will be closed until further notice.  Regular scheduled Tamitik Arena programming will be accommodated at the Kitimat Ice Rink (KIR). The Kitimat Ice Demons Game scheduled for today has been cancelled due to this closure.

The District of Kitimat is currently assessing the issue; updates will be provided by 12pm Tuesday.
