The chemical related incident at the pool yesterday has been resolved.  The pool is now open as scheduled.

KITIMAT, BC – There was a chemical related incident at the Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre today at approximately 8:45pm. No patrons were in the facility at the time of the incident, and all staff are accounted as safe and unharmed.

It is anticipated that regular scheduled programming will resume at the Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre tomorrow (November 17, 2018). An update will be provided on the District of Kitimat’s website and official Facebook page by 12pm tomorrow.

Kitimat's 2018 Business Walk Survey

November 14, 2018 - The 2018 Kitimat Business Walk took place on November 6th.  Teams of two visited local businesses in the City Centre, Mountainview Square, Nechako Centre and Service Centre areas. Through a short survey, information was collected on the present economic climate that local businesses are operating in. 

For any businesses we may have missed that day, the Business Walk survey is now available online here until December 31, 2018.

Pool Closure, November 9 at 6 p.m.

November 7, 2018 – Due to unforeseen circumstances the Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre will be closed at 6 p.m. on November 9 and will re-open at the regular time on Saturday, November 10.

Remembrance Day Service

A Remembrance Day service will take place at the Cenotaph in downtown Kitimat on Sunday, November 11.

The parade will form at the Dairy Queen parking lot at 10:15 sharp. Refreshments for the children will be served at the Legion Hall (upstairs) following the service.

The District of Kitimat municipal office will be closed on Monday, November 12 in lieu of this day.
