September 28, 2020 – Due to flood risk, Radley Park and Hirsch Creek Park are closed to the public. When flooding subsides, both parks will reopen until the end of the season on October 5th.

Water levels can change quickly with little warning.  In addition, the riverbanks are subject to erosion which creates unstable ground next to the river.  Take caution when approaching the Kitimat River and other water systems.  Avoid the edge of riverbanks and do not stand on land that appears...

September 24, 2020 – Due to high volumes of rain, the Kitimat River has risen significantly and continues to rise. The public is advised to stay away from the river or exercise extreme caution if engaged in activities near the river. Lower Dyke Road is closed to the public.

We have two Downtown Master Plan open houses coming up:

  1. An in-person open house today, September 23, at Riverlodge Recreation Centre from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  2. A virtual open house tomorrow, Thursday, September 24, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. through www.kitimat.ca

Radley Park and Hirsch Creek Park will be closed for the season on October 5.

The boat launch at Radley Park will also be closed. Parks will still be accessible by foot.

Our monthly District of Kitimat newsletters are posted on social media and usually distributed to various locations around town, including the museum, Snowflake Senior Centre, Tamitik Jubilee Sports Complex and Riverlodge Recreation Centre. Due to COVID-19, the September DOK newsletter will be distributed to some – but may not be available at all locations.
