Haisla Boulevard Bridge Repairs

April 23, 2020 - Due to repairs, the Haisla Boulevard Bridge will be reduced to single lane traffic this afternoon. We anticipate that both lanes will be operational by tomorrow morning.

BC Temporary Rental Supplement Program

April 23, 2020 – The BC Government has recently implemented the BC Temporary Rental Supplement Program. The program gives tenants and landlords, who have been impacted by COVID-19, temporary support for rent payments. The program provides $300 per month for eligible households with no dependents, and $500 per month for eligible households with dependents.
Applications must be submitted before May 1 to qualify for three months of support.

April 21, 2020 - Golfing on sports fields is not permitted at any time in the District of Kitimat. Golfing is permitted at the golf course when it is operational.

Limited Recycling Services Restored at KUTE Depot

April 20, 2020 – Kitimat Understanding the Environment (KUTE) will resume limited recycling services following a complete closure due to COVID-19.
Upon re-opening, KUTE will be only accepting cardboard.
KUTE will re-open to the public on Wednesday, April 22 from 12:30pm – 4:30pm.
Following April 22, KUTE will provide cardboard recycling services to the public every Tuesday and Wednesday from 12:30pm – 4:30pm until further notice.

Kitimat Campground Facilities Closed due to COVID-19

April 16, 2020 – Hirsch Creek Park and Radley Park will not be open for camping until at least May 31, 2020.
This action aligns with federal and provincial directives on camping and encourages people to stay home to reduce COVID-19 transmission risk.
