May 31, 2020 – Starting June 1, the reception desk at the District of Kitimat office in City Centre Mall will re-open with regular office hours, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (excluding statutory holidays). Until further notice, our reception desk services will be limited to the sale of bus passes and accepting property tax payments and home owner grants.

May 27, 2020 – Due to the high volume of content received today, Kitimat Understanding the Environment (KUTE) will not be accepting additional cardboard or paper recycling after 2:00 p.m. today.

Please refrain from dumping recyclables at the KUTE facility.

The original notice posted on May 20, 2020 included the mall hours which have been removed in this updated notice:

May 22, 2020 – The District of Kitimat will open its front desk at the municipal office in the City Centre Mall for select services during operational mall hours:

Starting on May 25th, the office will be open for the purchase of transit passes only.

Starting on June 1st, the office will also be open to accept tax payments and process Home Owner Grants.

May 21, 2020 – The wildfire off of the Bish Creek Forest Service Road remains classified as under control and it is being monitored. Fire crews have been out to patrol the area to watch for any signs of lingering heat.

As stated in previous updates, there remains no threat to the community.

Further updates will not be provided unless conditions drastically worsen.
