Water Quality Advisory Lifted

KITIMAT, BC – Effective October 28, 2019 at 3:30 p.m., the District of Kitimat in consultation with Northern Health, jointly lifted the Water Quality Advisory for all users of the District water system issued October 26, 2019.
The advisory was issued due to elevated turbidity levels, which have returned to normal.

KITIMAT, BC - Effective October 26, 2019, the District of Kitimat water system is under a Water Quality Advisory. Northern Health recommends that children, pregnant women, the elderly and persons with weakened immune systems drink boiled water at this time.
All owners of public premises must make patrons aware of this Water Quality Advisory.
A Water Quality Advisory is being issued to all users of the Kitimat Community Water System due to elevated turbidity levels in the source water – Kitimat River.

Free Public Transit on Election Day

KITIMAT, BC - The District of Kitimat and BC Transit are making it easier for voters to get to the polls on election day by offering free fare on routes 1 Whitesail, 2 Nechako and 3 Kildala on Monday, October 21.
Free election day bus service will also be valid for handyDART.

Amendments to Temporary Use Permit Regulations

OCTOBER 4, 2019 - The District of Kitimat is considering amendments to the Official Community Plan (OCP) and zoning in the Kitimat Municipal Code related to temporary use permits (TUPs). A TUP is a development application requesting approval from Council, or delegate, for a short-term land use that is not permitted by zoning at a specific property.
