The District of Kitimat is proposing a bylaw establishing a Revitalization Tax Exemption Program for the proposed LNG Canada (LNGC) project. The bylaw received three readings at the May 28, 2018 Special Meeting of Council, will be advertised for two weeks, and will be considered for adoption at its Regular Council Meeting scheduled for 7:30 pm, June 18, 2018.

Water Quality Advisory Lifted

KITIMAT, BC - Effective June 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. the District of Kitimat, in consultation with Northern Health, jointly lifted the Water Quality Advisory for all users of the District water system issued May 7, 2018.

The advisory was issued due to elevated turbidity levels, which have returned to normal.

Garden Improvements

The District of Kitimat will be undertaking garden improvements for the gardens located in the walking corridor between Vitality and Pace Gym through to the Post Office.

Work will take place on Saturday June 2nd, Sunday June 3rd and likely continue on Saturday June 9th and Sunday June 10th.  Work will be undertaken from approximately 8 am – 5 pm each day.

It is likely equipment such as a small Bobcat excavator and a medium sized dump truck will be frequenting the area. ...
