June 13, 2019 - Due to numerous attractants, there has been a significant increase in the number of bears in Kitimat. The public is advised to be bear aware. These bears have been attracted to our community by improperly stored refuse.
Conservation Officers and Bylaw Officers are patrolling the community; anyone found with improperly stored refuse will be ticketed. Bears that have become habituated will be destroyed.
