Emergency Alert Systems - Provincial and District of Kitimat

May 14, 2018 – The Province tested its new emergency notification system (Alert Ready) on May 9, 2018. The provincial system automatically sends alerts to LTE cellular smartphones. At this time, the provincial notification system will only be used to provide alerts for tsunamis, but may be expanded in the future for other alerts.
Currently, the provincial system cannot be integrated with community alert systems; therefore, the District of Kitimat will continue to issue our own alerts and information...

Our monthly District of Kitimat newsletters are posted on social media and distributed to various locations in town (including the library, museum, Tamitik Jubilee Sports Complex and Riverlodge Recreation Centre).
Bridge Cleaning Work

May 10, 2018 – The District of Kitimat is performing cleaning maintenance work on the Kitimat River bridge on Haisla Boulevard from May 9 -11, 2018. This work will occur during regular daytime working hours and will result in minor delays as the bridge is shut down to one-lane traffic.

WATER QUALITY ADVISORY
KITIMAT, BC - Effective May 7, 2018 at 4:30 p.m., the District of Kitimat water system is under a Water Quality Advisory. Northern Health recommends that children, pregnant women, the elderly and persons with weakened immune systems drink boiled water at this time.
All owners of public premises must make patrons aware of this Water Quality Advisory.
