Dogs Off Leash

July 26, 2018 – The District of Kitimat would like to remind the public that dogs are required to be on leash and under owner’s care and control at all times within the Kitimat townsite. There have been an increasing number of complaints regarding off-leash dogs and out of care and control dogs causing issues for others. Areas within Kitimat where dogs are allowed off-leash at the owner’s risk are Hirsch Creek Park and the Dyke Road.

Annual Water Main Flushing - Extended to July 31, 2018

Due to the high turbidity during the recent water quality advisory, the annual water main flushing has been extended to July 31, 2018.
The operation may cause temporary discoloration of the water supply and should clear up soon after the operation is completed. If the problem persists please contact the District of Kitimat.

LNG Canada Revitalization Bylaw and Backgrounder

The District of Kitimat is proposing a bylaw establishing a Revitalization Tax Exemption Program for the proposed LNG Canada (LNGC) project. The bylaw received three readings at the May 28, 2018 Special Meeting of Council, will be advertised for two weeks, and will be considered for adoption at its Regular Council Meeting scheduled for 7:30 pm, June 18, 2018.
