Scheduled Haisla Bridge inspection, March 13

The District of Kitimat will be conducting a scheduled inspection on Haisla Bridge this morning, March 13, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Flaggers will be present for alternating traffic.

Portion of Aquatic Centre closed until Saturday, March 4

 We're sorry to say that due to a fecal matter incident, the leisure pool and waterslide section of our Aquatic Centre will be closed until noon on Saturday, March 4.

 We appreciate your patience while we get things cleaned up.

 Since we're on the subject, a few points to keep the pool safe and clean for everyone:

  • Children who are still toilet training or other patrons who may have challenges with bodily control must wear swim diapers or elastic swim pants under their swim clothing

Sumgas Creek Restoration work to begin February 2023

Starting this month, LNG Canada will begin work on the Sumgas Creek Restoration project.

From February 2023 until Fall 2023 there may be intermittent disruptions to roads and walkways in the vicinity of the creek, generally from Haisla Boulevard to where it meets Kuldo Boulevard.

Sensory swim added as part of Family Day activities in Kitimat

Thanks to feedback from community organizations and members we're happy to offer a sensory swim on Family Day, February 20 as part of our free Family Day activities at Tamitik Jubilee Sports Complex. The sensory swim, running from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., is designed to accommodate families and children with challenges participating in our pool’s usual loud environment, for example for those on the Autism spectrum. To make a more comfortable environment, we will adapt the pool during this time by:
