Ammonia Leak Drill

May 7, 2019 – To ensure public and worker safety, the District of Kitimat and the Fire Department will be conducting an ammonia leak drillat the Tamitik Jubilee Sports Complex on Wednesday, May 8th, between 10 am and noon.
The District of Kitimat and other emergency response agencies will be treating this drill as an actual leak event. Response personnel will be wearing hazmat suits and simulated evacuation of the arenas and the pool will take place.

APRIL 23, 2019 – NORTHWEST, B.C. – Thanks to over $175,000 in funding from the Provincial Rural Dividend program the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, City of Prince Rupert, City of Terrace and District of Kitimat are putting boots to the ground to activate a regional attraction and retention strategy. Commission Volunteer Opportunity
Kitimat Council is looking for volunteers to sit on the Kitimat Zero Waste Management Plan Working Group. This working group will provide input and feedback to assist in the development and implementation of a Zero Waste Management Plan for the District of Kitimat.

Water Main Flushing, April 1 to June 30, 2019

The District of Kitimat will start its annual water main flushing on April 1st and finish by June 30th.
Flushing may cause temporary discolouration of the water supply. Flushing is necessary to clear debris from water lines. If you experience water discolouration, run your taps until the water clears. If water discolouration continues, call the District of Kitimat.

Hot Tub Now Open

March 26, 2019 – The hot tub at the Sam Lindsay Aquatic Center is now open as of today.
