Kitimat Landfill closed on Sunday, April 5

The Kitimat Landfill will be closed on Sunday, April 5 reflecting the Easter long weekend. The landfill will otherwise be open for its regular hours.

Curbside collection will not be affected due to the long weekend and will be collected as normal.

Other Easter weekend changes to our hours

The District of Kitimat offices and our Leisure facilities will be closed on Friday, April 3 and on Monday, April 6 due to the Easter holidays.

Municipal campground bookings now open

Online booking for Kitimat's two municipal campgrounds are open as of 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 1.

Kitimat's two campgrounds, Radley Park and Hirsch Creek Campground, contain a variety of amenities, including bookable covered areas for social gatherings.

Radley Park has a mix of both electrical and non-electrical sites available.

Council has advanced the 2026 municipal budget with decisions at their March 30 meeting. Here are a few things to know.

Allocation of revenues

Approximately two-thirds of the District’s total revenue is from property taxation, the remainder a mix of things such as government grants (15.5 per cent of all revenue), revenue from own sources (8.3 per cent), and sales of services. (5.1 per cent)

Traffic disruption on Haisla Boulevard

Due to work happening for an adjacent property in the area up to this Friday, April 3, there may be minor traffic disruptions along Haisla Boulevard, between Lahakas and Kuldo Boulevard, for westbound traffic.

Impacts may largely be a narrowing of the lane of traffic, with possible short traffic stops to allow the movement of machinery.
