Plenty of activities over the holiday break

We have a lot of fun events happening in our recreation facilities over the holidays! Events include:
- Winter Wonderland Skate, December 20
- Holiday Swims - December 23 and December 28
- Frosty's Fun Skate, December 27
- New Years Eve Family Event on December 31
- Neon Nights Swim, January 3

Notes from Council, December 15, 2025:
- Council received a presentation on the activities of the Age Friendly Committee over the 2025 year.
- Council has referred a financial request for the Kitimat Spray Park to be considered with other capital budget requests. Engineering and preparation work has taken place this year for the proposed park and this direction means Council will review the construction phase of this project along with other capital items for 2026.

Adjustments for curbside pick-up on holidays

Christmas and New Years Day is just around the corner, and that means there will be a slight change to curbside waste collection on those days.
If you normally get your waste picked up on Thursdays, your collection will be the day before, on Wednesday. This means:
- Thursday, December 25 becomes a Wednesday, December 24 pick-up day.
- Thursday, January 1 becomes a Wednesday, December 31 pick-up day.
The Kitimat Landfill is generally open for its regular hours too, but it will be closed on Christmas Day...
Rock Wall temporarily closed at Riverlodge

Due to unforeseen circumstances the rock wall at the Riverlodge Recreation Centre is temporarily closed.
We will update this page once it has been re-opened.

Residents encouraged to be ready for snow

With a potential sizeable drop of snow coming to Kitimat in the coming days, we're happy to share these important tips about managing snow in town.
- No parking on the streets during snow clearing or overnight between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.. Otherwise you may be at risk of being towed.
- When clearing snow on your property do not place it into the street, others' private property or onto public property including ditches.
- Hopefully by now you have your winter tires on. They should be on for in-town...
