The District of Kitimat is excited to announce the opening of 11 new electrical campsites at Radley Park.
Starting Monday, August 1, campers can begin booking these new sites online, in the latest milestone of a multi-phase project to enhance the services at the park. Site availability begins August 4.
Radley Park is the only campground along the beautiful Kitimat River, and one of two District of Kitimat municipal campgrounds.

Starting 12:00 noon on Thursday, July 28, the District of Kitimat will implement a Category 2 and Category 3 open burning prohibition.
Open fires are anything larger than allowed backyard fire pits in Kitimat, which are one metre by one metre in size, or 1.5 metres in certain neighbourhoods. This open burning prohibition does not affect campfires or backyard fires. You can learn more about backyard fires at www.kitimat.ca/fire.

An Extreme Heat Emergency is when daytime and nighttime temperatures get hotter every day and are well above seasonal norms.
Extreme heat is dangerous for the health and wellbeing of our communities and is responsible for the highest number of weather-related deaths annually.

Traffic changes on Haisla Boulevard from July 12 to 22
There will be intermittent single-lane, alternating traffic on Haisla Boulevard just west of the Kuldo Boulevard intersection near Haisla Bridge. This work begins July 12 and will run until July 22.

Recruiting certified lifeguards has been a challenge in Kitimat but, through ongoing free lifeguard training programs, Kitimat Leisure Services continues to maintain its regular operating hours at the aquatic centre.
However, staff limitations are impacting the ability to operate the two community wading pools.
Because of these challenges, the difficult decision has been made to not operate the wading pools through the summer.
