Kitimat Business Walk taking place October 15

The District of Kitimat’s 11th annual business walk is happening October 15.
The Business Walk, first held in 2015, is a joint collaboration with the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce and yáqʷa Development Corporation to understand the business climate in Kitimat.
Using the insight gained through these events, the community have been able to enjoy economic development programming and advocacy to support the areas of highest interest for local businesses.

- In addressing the concerns of temporary homeless shelters in Kitimat, the District will write a letter to the Province of B.C. advocating for a year-round shelter in the community. This motion stems from a tabled motion for District staff to report to Council on ways to eliminate temporary shelters and assist persons experiencing homelessness.

Update #4:
We are happy to report this road is now re-open to traffic, as of 3:45 p.m., October 10.

This section of road will remain closed with an anticipated re-opening the later afternoon of Wednesday, October 8.

Starting Sunday, September 28 until Friday, October 3, the section of Kingfisher Avenue adjacent to Nechako Centre will be closed to traffic. Please follow signs for detours.

Our municipal 2025 camping season has concluded

The District of Kitimat's municipal campgrounds - Radley Park and Hirsch Creek Park - are now closed for the 2025 camping season.
We look forward to opening registration for the 2026 season in the spring.
