Joanne Monaghan awarded Kings Charles III Coronation Medal

We are proud to share that one of Kitimat’s longest ever serving public servants, Joanne Monaghan, has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal, honouring her commitment to public service and local governance.
She was nominated by Kitimat Council.
Monaghan joined Kitimat’s Council in 1980 as an Alderman (title later changed to Councillor). She served in this role until 2008 when she was elected as Kitimat’s first female Mayor, and served in that role until 2014.
