Ammonia leak drill postponed to April 22

UPDATE: We have postponed this ammonia leak drill to Tuesday, April 22.

Tamitik Jubilee Sports Complex staff and the Kitimat Fire Department will be performing an ammonia leak drill on Thursday, April 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

You may see emergency personnel and equipment during this exercise.

Anyone at the facility during this time is asked to follow any direction as they would during an actual emergency.

Thank you very much for your patience during this important safety exercise.

Curbside yard waste collection begins April 14

Curbside yard waste collection for 2025 will begin on Monday, April 14.

Yard waste is collected on alternating weeks. April 14's pick-up is for people with a Tuesday or Thursday waste collection day, marked by a green leaf on your collection calendar.

The following Monday, April 21, will be yard waste collection for those with a Wednesday or Friday collection day, marked as a maple leaf on the collection calendar.

Camping reservations to open April 9 at 1 pm

Technical issues preventing reservations with Kitimat's municipal campgrounds is resolved and we will open reservations starting at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9.

We appreciate the public's patience while we sorted everything out.

Starting at 1:00 p.m. on April 9 you can head to the Parks and Campgrounds page to reserve your camp site for this season.
