Water Treatment Plant Project moving ahead this Spring

The District of Kitimat is excited that groundwork has begun for a new Water Treatment Plant.
This project will use a combination of water conditioning, sand filtration and UV disinfection to treat Kitimat’s municipal water using modern methods. Once operational, it will reduce the likelihood of future Water Quality Advisories.

Landfill shifts into summer hours

The Kitimat Landfill's summer hours went into effect on Tuesday, April 1.
The landfill is open Tuesdays to Sundays, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Kitimat exploring the idea of a year-round market space

The District of Kitimat, together with the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce, is looking into the feasibility of an outdoor market space in the downtown area.
While there are seasonal markets that pop-up in Kitimat's core through the summer months, the purpose of this study is to consider the idea of a purpose-built market area that would exist year-round.
This study is funded thanks to a grant from the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP).

This seasonal publication provides all the important dates, details and program listings so you can enjoy recreation in Kitimat.
Some key dates:
- In-person programming registration begins Friday, April 4 and 9:00 a.m.
- Online and phone registration begins Saturday, April 5 and 10:00 a.m.
- Swim lesson registrations must be in person or by phone.
- Registration for summer programs begins Friday, April 25 and 9:00 a.m.
