Aquatic Centre to open at 11:00 a.m. March 27

Due to a power outage during the evening, the Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre will open at 11:00 a.m. this morning, March 27, rather than its usual opening times.

- Council formally gave support for use of the Riverlodge Ball Field for a landing site for the helicopter rides provided on July 1, and a letter of support will be provided to Canadian Helicopters.

- Following a presentation from Kitimat Flying Club representatives, Council approved that the District will apply for two grants on behalf of the Club, one for $35,000 and another for $200,000. Update on the 2025 Kitimat municipal budget

Kitimat Council has been deliberating on the municipal budget over the course of the past few months, and the most recent meeting, March 3, 2025, has moved the budget closer to completion.
We are happy to share highlights of where the budget currently stands. The budget remains preliminary at this point and will continue to be deliberated on by Council.

- Council heard from Kitimat residents who live in the Strawberry Meadows neighbourhood who are concerned with the impact of noise from LNG Canada’s flare stack.
