Communications survey seeks your input

The District of Kitimat is launching its annual communications survey to know how residents get their information, and how well they feel they communicate with us.

This survey is hosted on our Get Involved Kitimat page here.

Totem pole will honour x̄á’isla history and land at Haisla Bridge

The District of Kitimat, with support from Haisla Nation Council, has selected Haisla artist Nathan Wilson to carve a totem pole which will overlook the new Haisla Bridge.

This totem pole will stand at the southeast end of the bridge, on waw̓áis (pronounced wah-wehs) held by Chris Wilson, across the road from the Kitimat Rod & Gun building. Kitimat continues to promote WayLessWaste, new changes coming to residents

Key Points:

  1. The $5 flat rate for residential waste at the Kitimat Landfill goes into effect January 2, 2024.
  2. From February 5, two curbside garbage containers will be allowed per collection. Garbage container tags, at $3 each, will allow up to an additional two bins on collection.

The District of Kitimat continues with changes to promote less waste in the community while implementing cost recovery phases to the Kitimat Landfill.

Get Involved Kitimat makes project information easier for residents

We're excited to launch a new public engagement platform called Get Involved Kitimat.

This new platform will now house all of our active municipal projects, and replaces our older Active Municipal Projects page. You can access it using our top navigation menu (see top right) or at the bottom of our website.
