- Council discussed a Geoscience BC letter requesting supports for their "Northwest BC Geothermal & CCUS Assessment Project," which aims to promote geothermal energy projects and potential CO2 storage. Council's approved support includes:
- Offering any in-kind support that would benefit this research project.
- Recommendations towards future phases of the project, including the inclusion of Kitimat.
- Writing a letter of support to Geoscience BC.

Wednesday curbside collection moves to Tuesday for New Years Day

For those with curbside waste collection on Wednesdays, your collection will be Tuesday, December 31, rather than this coming Wednesday due to New Years Day.
Did you also know, you can stay informed directly about your waste schedule. Download the RecycleCoach app and get phone notifications for every collection day. This will take the guesswork out of when and also what can be put to the curb, using the app's search feature.

A reminder that landfill fees change in the new year

A reminder that effective January 1, 2025, the minimum tipping fee for the landfill becomes $10 per visit.
Encouraging more use of curbside collection and discouraging individual use of the landfill means extending the life of our landfill, which is otherwise close to the end of its lifespan.
Since 2020, we have introduced new curbside programs, from yard waste to recycling to food waste.
Except for regular garbage, all streams of waste from the curb goes to locations other than the local landfill...

- Council approved third reading of the Official Community Amendment Bylaw and the Zoning Amendment Bylaw for 3 Blueberry Avenue. These amendments are intended to change the conditions of the property, which in this case refers to the maximum number of dwelling units, a change to the allowed dwelling types, and the heights of allowed buildings.
