A summary of items from the December 2, 2024 Regular Meeting of Council:

Council passed second reading for a zoning amendment for 3 Blueberry Avenue. This zoning amendment revises conditions such as the density of housing within the zone, the types of housing permitted, and set new maximums on floor area and building heights.

With second reading passed, a Public Hearing for this zoning amendment and associated Official Community Plan amendment bylaw will take place on December 16.

Minette Bay West Park dock installation coming up, park access changes

The District of Kitimat is excited to mark the next step in enhancements to Minette Bay West Park, through the installation of a floating dock on the water.

The installation of a floating dock will commence in December, and means the park will be closed from December 4 until December 31, 2024 to allow for its smooth installation and associated construction.

It is possible the work may conclude more quickly and the park will re-open earlier if that is the case.

Kitimat's Boil Water Notice has now been lifted, effective 2:00 p.m., November 18, 2024.

This ends the active boil water advisory which was first implemented on November 7, 2024.
