The District of Kitimat is excited to see the Minerals North conference and trade show in the community, from May 8th to 10th, 2024.
Co-hosted by Kitimat Chamber of Commerce, the District, and the Kitimat Economic Development Association, this annual conference is hosted in a northern community and brings together professionals and industry leaders to discuss developments, best practices, and new opportunities.

Our monthly District of Kitimat newsletters are posted on social media and distributed to various locations around town, including the museum, library, Tamitik and Riverlodge Recreation Centre.

The Kitimat Fire and Ambulance Service has reached preliminary findings into the investigation of the March 17 fire at Kitimat Ice Rink.
The investigation continues and no firm conclusions have been reached but initial findings suggest the fire may have originated from a faulty or malfunctioning wall-mounted heater within the Referee’s Room.

The District of Kitimat is taking steps to improve local healthcare.
The Kitimat Healthcare Professionals Attraction and Retention Strategy has been adopted, with a number of key recommendations to boost the number of healthcare professionals in Kitimat. Kitimat Council has approved the first-year budget of the program, which is funded by LNG Canada.
