Pool maintenance program begins August 6

The 2024 annual maintenance schedule for the Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre is August 6 to September 22.

(Due to the BC Day statutory holiday, the last swim day is Sunday, August 4.)

Business workshops earns big bucks for Kitimat entrepreneurs

An educational series for Kitimat businesses has earned three local businesses a total of $10,000.

The Kitimat Business Builders Competition follows on the Business Builders Workshop series, which is a chance for local business operators to build their capacity for business continuity. Road work on Nalabila near Raley Street

A portion of Nalabila Boulevard, between the intersection at Lahakas Boulevard to Raley Street, will be closed for road work on Tuesday, July 16 between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m..

Vehicles can detour either by approaching Nalabila from Kingfisher Avenue, or through the connection of Egret and Fulmar Streets.

District of Kitimat to receive funding boost through Resource Benefits Alliance

A funding agreement through the Province of B.C. and the Resource Benefits Alliance (RBA) will mean a boost to the District of Kitimat to support infrastructure projects.

The Province announced the details of its $250 million funding agreement with the 21 member communities of the RBA, with the District of Kitimat to receive $19,551,818 over the course of five years.

Campfire ban in effect July 12

The District of Kitimat joins a province-wide campfire prohibition in effect as of Friday, July 12 at noon. This applies to backyard fires within Kitimat.

From this date prohibitions now include Category 1 campfires, and Categories 2 and 3 open fires.
