On hearing news of the passing of Paul Monaghan, Kitimat Mayor Phil Germuth offers this statement:

On behalf of the District of Kitimat, we are saddened to hear of the passing of former mayor Paul Monaghan.

Monaghan earned his Mayorship in the November 1974 municipal election. He served in that position until 1976. When elected he was 33, Kitimat’s youngest mayor.

The District of Kitimat is working to fix its internal telephone system which is affecting incoming and outgoing calls from our offices and facilities this morning, November 22.

Ammonia leak drill scheduled for November 22

Tamitik Jubilee Sports Complex staff and the Kitimat Fire Department will be performing an ammonia leak drill on Wednesday, November 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

You may see emergency personnel and equipment during this exercise. Anyone at the facility during this time is asked to follow any direction as they would during an actual emergency.
