Festivals Kitimat is excited to launch a day full of events on July 1.

Here’s your guide to Canada Day:

Free local transit

Throughout the day, it’ll be easy to get around by using the day’s free local transit!

Kitimat’s regular bus routes will run until 9:00 p.m..

A special shuttle service by Transdev will continue on Kitimat's usual transit routes starting at 9:00 p.m. until midnight, departing from the Riverlodge Recreation Centre.

Canada Day Long Weekend Facility Hours

District of Kitimat offices and facilities will have adjusted hours on Monday, July 1 due to the Canada Day long weekend. District of Kitimat offices - including Municipal Hall, Public Works and Public Safety Building These offices will be closed to the public on Monday, July 1. Temporary closure for portion of Haisla Boulevard, June 21

In anticipation of the Kitimat Hill Climb community event, a portion of Haisla Boulevard will be closed on Friday, June 21, 2024.

To ensure safe condition of the road, the portion of Haisla Boulevard from Kingfisher Boulevard down to the intersection of Haisla and Tsimshian Boulevard, will be closed between 9:00 a.m. and to 12 noon.

The Hill Climb event takes place on Saturday, June 22. This section of Haisla Boulevard will be closed to traffic during this event, between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Haisla Nation and District of Kitimat celebrate with signing of friendship agreement

The District of Kitimat and Haisla Nation Council are celebrating the conclusion of a two-year relationship building project with the signing of a friendship agreement.

The agreement was signed at a celebration at Minette Bay West Park on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
