KITIMAT ICE RINK AIR QUALITY UPDATE
December 8, 2021 – A previous air quality notice that noted higher than typical fungal spores in the Kitimat Ice Rink has now been rescinded.
Testing has confirmed that the facility’s air quality is satisfactory and there is no concern to human health. The District of Kitimat has implemented a regular monitoring program for the facility to ensure that the air quality remains at normal levels.

Minette Bay West Park UPDATE Kitimat’s First Waterfront Public Recreational Space Through 2021, the District of Kitimat continued development of Minette Bay West Park. Our crews completed some additional groundworks activities in the Spring. In the Summer, we tendered construction activities such as the development of a floating dock and other amenities, however, no bids were received. HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED
November 19, 2021 – Heavy rain and strong winds are expected from November 19 – November 22.
Water levels at the Kitimat River and Hirsch Creek can change quickly and without warning. Please exercise caution around the riverbanks and watch for falling trees and branches that may occur during periods of strong winds.

Haisla Bridge Construction Lane Diversion

HAISLA BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION LANE DIVERSION
November 10, 2021 – Beginning November 11, Haisla Bridge traffic will be subject to diverted travel lanes. This long-term lane diversion will be in place until Summer 2022.
This diversion will accommodate blasting work associated with construction of the new Haisla Bridge. Please obey traffic signage and flagging personnel.
