We're excited to launch a new public engagement platform called Get Involved Kitimat.
This new platform will now house all of our active municipal projects, and replaces our older Active Municipal Projects page. You can access it using our top navigation menu (see top right) or at the bottom of our Kitimat.ca website.
In January 2023 we asked through community survey what works and what can be improved in District of Kitimat communications.
Through that survey we asked what you want to know more...
Community fireworks on October 29
Posted on Friday, October 20, 2023 02:41 PM
We're excited to offer a community fireworks display on Sunday, October 29, at 7:30 p.m.
Fireworks will be set off from the Riverlodge Recreation Centre parking lot. To allow for the display, the parking lot will be closed at 4:30 p.m. that afternoon.
This comes in the evening following the family Halloween Howl event.
While this community display is a special event, remember that personal fireworks can only be set off on Halloween itself.

On Tuesday, October 3 the amended solid waste bylaw passed.
Changes to the landfill will begin November 1 with self-haul rates applying to residential loads greater than 100 kg.
Commercial loads will begin to be charged based on weight.
Starting January 1, 2024, there will be a $5 minimum charge to drop off waste at the landfill. If the load is greater than 100 kg there will be a price-per-tonne applied in addition to the $5 fee.
