PRESS RELEASE: New Yard Waste Collection Program Begins in May
APRIL 14, 2021
KITIMAT, BC – The District of Kitimat is all set to launch its new residential yard waste collection program at the beginning of May. Yard waste, which includes leaves, grass, and twigs, will be collected from Kitimat homes every other week until November. The collected yard waste will be composted at the District’s landfill.

Changes to Indoor Exercise Protocol

April 8, 2021 – In accordance with province-wide restrictions, the following protocols are now in effect in our recreation and leisure facilities:
- Masks must be worn at all times including while exercising indoors (the pool is exempt from this requirement).
- All fitness sessions must be booked in advance (including weight room, cardio room, gymnasium, open gym, parent and tot open gym, rock wall, pottery, and swimming).
- All indoor group fitness classes have been suspended (excluding aquafit).

PUBLIC NOTICE:
INDOOR ADULT FITNESS CLASSES SUSPENDED
March 29, 2021 – In accordance with province-wide restrictions, all indoor adult fitness classes will be suspended until at least April 19. Weight room and cardio room activities are still permitted at this time.
We will continue monitoring provincial health orders and updates will be provided when they are available.
