KITIMAT, BC – Effective at 1:30 p.m., October 28, 2020, the District of Kitimat water system is under a Water Quality Advisory. Northern Health recommends that children, pregnant women, the elderly and persons with weakened immune systems drink boiled water at this time.
All owners of public premises must make patrons aware of this Water Quality Advisory.
A Water Quality Advisory is being issued to all users of the Kitimat Community Water System due to elevated turbidity levels in the source water...

HIGH STREAMFLOW ADVISORY
October 26, 2020 – The Provincial River Forecast Centre has issued a “High Streamflow Advisory” for the Kitimat valley. A combination of rising temperatures and heavy rainfall is expected later tonight and tomorrow which may cause water levels in the Kitimat River to rise. The Kitimat River can rise quickly and without warning. The public is advised to use extreme caution if engaged in activities near the river.

OCTOBER 20, 2020 – The public comment period is presently open for Pacific Traverse Energy Ltd.’s application to extend temporary investigation licence SK935891. The Province will be accepting comments until October 23, 2020.

OCTOBER 19, 2020 – A large earthquake has occurred near Sand Point, Alaska. There is no risk of a tsunami to Kitimat.
In the event of a tsunami warning or any other emergency, the District of Kitimat communicates up-to-date local emergency information though our emergency alert system.
