The following statement has been issued by Coastal GasLink:
"Coastal GasLink has environmental specialists on site actively responding to flooding of the Kitimat River which has affected an adjacent work site. The flood waters have significantly receded and construction crews are working to repair bridge crossing for access and clean-up of debris.
An initial assessment of the site indicates that equipment remains intact and there are no visible hydrocarbon sheens at the location of the flooding....

Water Quality Advisory

KITIMAT, BC – Effective at noon, September 29, 2020, the District of Kitimat water system is under a Water Quality Advisory. Northern Health recommends that children, pregnant women, the elderly and persons with weakened immune systems drink boiled water at this time.
All owners of public premises must make patrons aware of this Water Quality Advisory.
A Water Quality Advisory is being issued to all users of the Kitimat Community Water System due to elevated turbidity levels in the source water – Kitimat...
Campgrounds Temporarily Closed due to Flooding

September 28, 2020 – Due to flood risk, Radley Park and Hirsch Creek Park are closed to the public. When flooding subsides, both parks will reopen until the end of the season on October 5th.
Water levels can change quickly with little warning. In addition, the riverbanks are subject to erosion which creates unstable ground next to the river. Take caution when approaching the Kitimat River and other water systems. Avoid the edge of riverbanks and do not stand on land that appears...
