Kitimat River Advisory

September 24, 2020 – Due to high volumes of rain, the Kitimat River has risen significantly and continues to rise. The public is advised to stay away from the river or exercise extreme caution if engaged in activities near the river. Lower Dyke Road is closed to the public.

We have two Downtown Master Plan open houses coming up:
- An in-person open house today, September 23, at Riverlodge Recreation Centre from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
- A virtual open house tomorrow, Thursday, September 24, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. through www.kitimat.ca
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, space is limited for the in-person event at Riverlodge. All protocols set out in the most recent provincial health order on gatherings will be followed. Participants will be asked to complete a health...
Campgrounds Closing Soon

Radley Park and Hirsch Creek Park will be closed for the season on October 5.
The boat launch at Radley Park will also be closed. Parks will still be accessible by foot.

Our monthly District of Kitimat newsletters are posted on social media and usually distributed to various locations around town, including the museum, Snowflake Senior Centre, Tamitik Jubilee Sports Complex and Riverlodge Recreation Centre. Due to COVID-19, the September DOK newsletter will be distributed to some – but may not be available at all locations.

September 11, 2020 – Environment Canada has issued an air quality statement on smoke impacts due to long-range transport from the wildfires in the western United States. This may impact the Kitimat valley as it travels up the BC coast.
