COVID-19 Outbreak Declared by Northern Health

We are aware of the COVID-19 outbreak declared by Northern Health at the LNG Canada worksite. We will work closely with Northern Health, LNG Canada, JFJV and other stakeholders to help protect the wellbeing of the community.

Masks Strongly Encouraged in all District of Kitimat Facilities

November 13, 2020 - Effective Monday, November 16, 2020, the District of Kitimat is strongly encouraging masks to be worn in all public indoor District of Kitimat facilities to reduce the potential risk of exposure to COVID-19. This requirement is being implemented to protect community health and safety.
Exemptions
Those exempt from being strongly encouraged to wearing a face mask while inside District of Kitimat buildings include people:
- Five years and under
- Whose medical condition prevents them...

Kitimat Water Quality Advisory Lifted

WATER QUALITY ADVISORY LIFTED
KITIMAT, BC – Effective November 12, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. the District of Kitimat, in consultation with Northern Health, jointly lifted the Water Quality Advisory that was issued on October 28, 2020 for all users of the District water system.
The advisory was issued due to elevated turbidity levels which have returned to normal.

November 2020 District of Kitimat Newsletter

Our monthly District of Kitimat newsletters are posted on social media and usually distributed to various locations around town, including the Kitimat Museum, Snowflake Senior Centre, Tamitik Jubilee Sports Complex and Riverlodge Recreation Centre. Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the November DOK newsletter will be distributed to some locations but may not be available at them all.

Haisla Boulevard Lane Closure

November 6, 2020 – The east bound lane of Haisla Blvd. will be closed between Kuldo Blvd. and Lahakas Blvd. between 8:00am and mid-afternoon today. The closure is due to District of Kitimat crews erecting a directional sign pole near the Haisla Blvd. and Lahakas Blvd. intersection.
Traffic will be directed to alternative routes:
Travelling to City Center – Along Kuldo Blvd to Quatsino Blvd.Travelling out of town – Along Kuldo Blvd. to Nalabila Blvd.
