April 21, 2020 - Golfing on sports fields is not permitted at any time in the District of Kitimat. Golfing is permitted at the golf course when it is operational.

Limited Recycling Services Restored at KUTE Depot

April 20, 2020 – Kitimat Understanding the Environment (KUTE) will resume limited recycling services following a complete closure due to COVID-19.

Upon re-opening, KUTE will be only accepting cardboard.

KUTE will re-open to the public on Wednesday, April 22 from 12:30pm – 4:30pm.

Following April 22, KUTE will provide cardboard recycling services to the public every Tuesday and Wednesday from 12:30pm – 4:30pm until further notice.

April 17, 2020 - The District of Kitimat wants to remind everyone that we must keep holding the line to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in our community. Here are some considerations for keeping safe this weekend:

Barricades Removed Along Dyke Road

Barricades that were installed off of Dyke Road to prevent vehicles from travelling to the riverbank have now been removed. The public is reminded to practice physical distancing at all times when recreating outdoors in the District of Kitimat.

April 16, 2020 – Hirsch Creek Park and Radley Park will not be open for camping until at least May 31, 2020.

This action aligns with federal and provincial directives on camping and encourages people to stay home to reduce COVID-19 transmission risk.

April 16, 2020 – The District of Kitimat is making available printed versions of Northern Health’s COVID-19 information posters.

These resources can be made available in 11”x 17”, 3’ x 4’, or custom sizes. The posters provide an:

  • Overview of considerations before entering a place of business or public space
  • General overview of COVID-19 considerations

The posters are available to local businesses, service agencies, or individuals that wish to publicly display the information.
