Bears and Improperly Stored Garbage

June 13, 2019 - Due to numerous attractants, there has been a significant increase in the number of bears in Kitimat. The public is advised to be bear aware. These bears have been attracted to our community by improperly stored refuse.

Conservation Officers and Bylaw Officers are patrolling the community; anyone found with improperly stored refuse will be ticketed. Bears that have become habituated will be destroyed.

Haisla Boulevard Bridge Down To One Lane

June 4, 2019 - Please note that due to a utility repair, the Haisla Boulevard Bridge will be reduced to one lane traffic today.  We anticipate both lanes to be operational by the end of the day.

June 3, 2019 - Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre will be closed at 6:00 p.m. today.  The pool will re-open on Tuesday, June 4 at 9:00 a.m.

May 8, 2019 – Each spring season we promote a clean-up campaign to encourage all residents to clean up their home, yard and place of business to help us all enjoy a clean, attractive community. This year’s campaign runs from May 11 to 17 and is an excellent time to remove any fire hazards, return recyclable material to the recycling depot, and pick up the dog poop that collects in the yard.

The week of May 13 is expanded garbage collection week when we waive the limit on the number of garbage bags...
