Kitimat BC — The District of Kitimat is reminding residents that the Canada Post Strike may affect:

  • Receiving your payment for utility bills, permits, licences and other charges; and
  • Our communications to you (including cheques, invoices and correspondence).

To ensure your payment is received in time, we offer the following suggestions:

  • Online: Payments can be made through your financial institution’s online banking service.
  • At Your Bank: Payments can also be made in person or by telephone through your bank.
  • At the Municipal Office: Payments are accepted in-person and over the phone at the Municipal Office front counter during office hours (8:30am – 4:30pm). Our mail slot can be used to drop off cheques and other mail between 8:00am and 6:00pm on weekdays (please note that the mail slot cannot be accessed on weekends).
  • By Courier: Consider using a courier service to send cheques and other mail to the District if needed.

If you have already mailed a cheque or other documents to the District, please follow-up with our office to ensure we have received same or to make alternate arrangements.

The District is putting contingency plans in place to ensure that the effects of the Canada Post Strike are mitigated as best as possible.
