This is a joint construction notification:
Coastal GasLink is committed to creating an extraordinary legacy of safety and respect for all people, communities and the environment. We are keeping our neighbors along the right-of-way informed on post-construction activities happening near their community. Please note the following information.
We are pleased to have worked with the District of Kitimat to provide key pieces of infrastructure that will provide safer and continued access to the Kitimat River, leaving a legacy for the community.
What:
Modification to Lower Dyke Road / Fisherman’s Trail to relocate a segment of the road from the Coastal GasLink right-of-way:
1. District of Kitimat is constructing the replacement road segment. This work will include road construction and bridge installation.
2. Coastal GasLink will remove a segment of road located within its ROW, including removal of bridge and reinstatement activities.
3. Primary location of activities will be along the road at approximately KM marker 0+950 through to KM marker 1+200.
When:
District of Kitimat activities will start as early as September 16, 2024, and Coastal GasLink activities will begin on or around September 20, 2024, with activities being concurrent for a period of time. It is anticipated activities will be completed and the road reopened by October 17, 2024. (This has been amended from an earlier anticipated completion date)
Where:
All activities will take place along road at approximate road KM 0+950 (950m from Dyke Road) through to road KM 1+200 (1.2 km from Dyke Road) located in the community of Kitimat, B.C. **Public access to the river will be impacted. ** Please see map included as part of this notification.
Expected Duration:
District of Kitimat clearing, and civil work activities will start as early as September 16, 2024, and will be followed by road construction and bridge installation. **Public access will remain open during clearing and civil work activities. **
Coastal GasLink bridge removal and reinstatement activities are expected to start September 20, 2024, with equipment moving in as early as September 16, 2024, to facilitate bridge removal. **Public access will be closed September 20, 2024, through to October 8, 2024, when the relocated bridge reopens. **
Potential Impact:
Public access via Lower Dyke Road/Fisherman’s Trail to the Kitimat River will be closed starting September 20, 2024, through to October 8, 2024, while the bridge relocation occurs, and alternate new road construction is completed. There are no residences located within the immediate area.
