March 18, 2020 - The District of Kitimat is diligently monitoring COVID-19 developments. Proactive operational measures are being enacted to minimize potential transmission of COVID-19. Impacts to municipal facility operations include:
DISTRICT OF KITIMAT FACILITIES
Recreation Facilities
The Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre, Tamitik Arena, Kitimat Ice Rink, and Riverlodge Recreation Centre will be closed to the public effective March 18, 2020. The closure will remain in effect until further notice. Remaining tenure of memberships will be honoured once operations recommence. Refunds will be provided upon request. Pool or arena related inquiries should be directed to 250-632-8955. Fitness and leisure related inquiries should be directed to 250-632-8970.
Municipal Office
The municipal offices will be closed to the public effective March 18, 2020. District operations will continue as normal. Appointments may be available subject to pre-screening discretions. Municipal office related inquiries should be directed to 250-632-8900.
Public Works
The Public Works facility will be closed to the public effective March 18, 2020. District operations will continue as normal. Public Works related inquiries should be directed to 250-632-8930.
Fire Hall
The Fire Hall facility will be closed to the public effective March 18, 2020. Fire and Ambulance operations will continue as normal. Fire and Ambulance related inquiries should be directed to 250-632-8940 (non-emergency) or 9-1-1 (emergency).
RCMP
The RCMP detachment will remain open until further notice. Some services may be restricted.
OTHER SERVICES OPERATING OUT OF DISTRICT OF KITIMAT FACILITIES
Kitimat Museum and Archives
The museum is closed to the public until further notice. All programs, meetings, and events are cancelled.
Kitimat Public Library
The library is closed to the public until further notice. All programs, meetings, and events are cancelled.
Kitimat Senior Centre
The Senior Centre facility remains open to groups of 10 or less.
Kitimat Youth Centre
The Youth Centre will be closed to the public until further notice.
Kitimat Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Information Centre
The Kitimat Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Information Centre will be closed to the public effective March 18, 2020. Kitimat Chamber of Commerce operations will continue as normal.
Kitimat Humane Society
The Humane Society is closed to the public until further notice. Dog control, reclaiming, surrenders, and emergencies services are still available by contacting 250-632-7373 or 250-639-6297 (after-hours emergencies).
