The “Age-Friendly” movement is a global initiative led initially by the World Health Organization in 2005. The idea of an age-friendly community is one that is livable, walkable, socially inclusive, and includes viable transportation options and is accessible to key services for everyone.
The review of the Age-Friendly Action Plan in 2024 will provide updates on how Kitimat is progressing in the age-friendly process while providing new input from the community engagement sessions that will update the current action plan with new actions that will further benefit seniors and make Kitimat a more age-friendly community.
The existing Kitimat Age Friendly Assessment Report and Action Plan, from November 2018, can be viewed at www.kitimat.ca/reports.
