Kitamaat Village connects with District of Kitimat’s WayLessWaste program

The District of Kitimat is excited to welcome Kitamaat Village to the WayLessWaste curbside collection program.

Haisla Nation Council’s introduction to this service means they join the District’s efforts to divert waste from the Kitimat Landfill, extending the landfill’s life and better supporting the environment.

Kitamaat Village’s participation in the WayLessWaste program is thanks to funding from Indigenous Services Canada.

The District’s own curbside program in 2023 diverted nearly 470,000 kg of away from the landfill, between January and November.

District of Kitimat residents can learn more about their curbside program at www.kitimat.ca/waylesswaste.
