KITIMAT, BC - The District of Kitimat has released information on the potential of lead and copper in drinking water. Information is available on the District website at www.kitimat.ca.

Lead in drinking water is a potential health concern in many Canadian communities.

The District of Kitimat initiated a lead testing program in 2018, and concluded in 2019. Water from municipal infrastructure consistently tested safe according to guidelines. In some cases, water from private property has tested above the current guidelines. The main source of lead in Kitimat’s drinking water is a result of plumbing infrastructure on private property.

This information will be sent directly to Kitimat properties in this week's Northern Connector newspaper.
